Bankruptcies rise in Sydney's west
 
The Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia has mapped out bankruptcies in Sydney for the first time, finding that southwest and western suburbs had the highest increase in personal bankruptcies across all ages. In the past financial year southwest bankruptcies rose 27 per cent from 1,165 to 1,486, while in western suburbs they increased 18 per cent from 1,465 to 1,749. People aged under 30 made up 30 per cent of the figures. Paul Leroy, Hall Chadwick insolvency expert said, 'Consumer bankruptcies are caused by the easy availability of loans or credit cards.'
