Strange legal action will be fought says ANZ 31 December 2008
ANZ shares finished yesterday five cents lower at $15.25 as news of the US class action broke to Australian investors. ANZ said the complaint filed in Manhattan federal court by law firm Vianale & Vianale appears strange. The law suit had no foundation and will be defended vigorously said the bank. ANZ said it did not have a duty of disclosure to US investors in relation to the failure of stock broker Opes Prime, a big borrower and business partner of ANZ.
