Increasing numbers of homeowners are putting their homes at risk of repossession over credit card debts they can't repay says the Victorian Consumer Action Law Centre. Chief executive of the Centre, Carolyn Bond says people can be made bankrupt over debts as small as $2,000.According to figures released yesterday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics many households are now struggling to pay debts because of the fall in share and property markets. Four per cent of households owe more than $500,000, while 40 per cent owe less than $20,000.
