The big banks are making renewed efforts to grab retail market share. NAB has appointed Lisa Gray to replace Andrew Thorburn as head of retail banking. Gray was formerly the head of NAB's branch network. Thorburn will replace Cameron Clyne as head of NAB New Zealand as Clyne has been appointed as NAB's new chief executive. The head of NAB's Australian operations Ahmed Fahour is expected to leave the bank soon. Westpac has had four retail banking bosses in less than a year, the latest being Peter Hanlon who was appointed in mid-July. St George's head of retail operations is Les Matheson, who took over the job three months ago. Commonwealth's retail boss, Ross McEwen, was appointed in early 2007.
