Borrowers keep their repayments high 22 January 2009
The majority of mortgagees have not reduced their repayments along with recent interest rate cuts according to a survey by the Australian National Retailers Association. 74 per cent of borrowers reported that they had made no change to their mortgage repayments. Only 3 per cent said they were spending more on discretionary items while, about 12 per cent said they were using the extra money to pay off credit cards and other debts.
