CBA asks ATM customers to return extra cash 21 September 2009
Seventy five per cent of customers of the Commonwealth Bank ATM in Campbelltown, NSW have returned the extra cash that was mistakenly dispensed by the machine last week. CBA is asking all people who withdrew money from Campbelltown branch ATM last week and were given $50 notes instead of $20 notes to return the extra cash.Some people retuned more than once during the night last week to withdraw more money from the machine after initially being given more money than they asked for.A Commbank spokesperson said the wrong canister was inadvertently put into the wrong slot. "We'll contact everyone who withdrew money that day and request they refund the money. We've recovered more than 75 per cent of it already." CCTV footage is being used to recognize those customers who withdrew money.
