Commonwealth Bank ATMs in Melbourne have being targeted by card skimmers. After a woman noticed a device attached to a CBA ATM in South Yarra this week, the CBA has issued a general warning to its customers to protect their PIN by covering the key pad when typing the numbers into the ATM.Card skimming devices attach to the ATM and read information from magnetic stripe cards. The skimming device, discovered on an ATM housed at The Jam Factory in South Yarra, has been described by police as ‘sophisticated’ and included a camera fitted above the key pad of the ATM to capture images of customers typing in their PINs. Anyone who may have used a compromised ATM is urged to change their PIN code immediately.
