Charge cards – making a comeback? 19 May 2010 |
| |
| Charge cards, long considered the poor cousin of credit cards, may be making something of a come-back, at least among high income earners. Charge cards require the card holder to pay off the entire balance at the end of each month. In Australia, charge cards are issued by American Express (who also offer credit cards) and Diners Club.Card experts say charge cards represent a half way house between credit and debit cards, giving the cardholder some control over the debt they rack up. If you pay your balance on a charge card late, you will be levied a set fee or percentage of the balance. There is no interest rate applicable on charge cards. There is no preset credit limit but the card won’t work if you break the rules. |
