More than 1.5 million Australians have notched up black marks on their credit records because of overdue bills and debt.The defaults are listed when a payment of $100 or more is at least 90 days overdue. Victorian Consumer Affairs Minister Tony Robinson said some firms made misleading offers to clear bad credit records, charging up to $2000 for basic advice or self-help books."You can only amend bad credit listings in limited circumstances and information is available free from Consumer Affairs Victoria," Mr Robinson said.People can request a free copy of their credit report via mycreditfile.com.au or dnb.com.au.
