Financial Crisis is over says Westpac 17 February 2010
The worst of the global financial crisis is over said Westpac chief executive officier Gail Kelly yesterday.Westpac announced a record first quarter profit result that Kelly said was largely a result of fewer borrowers defaulting on their debts. Cash profit was up 33 percent to $1.6 billion, far in excess of the consensus market expectation of $1.25 billion.The result pushed Westpac shares up more than 6 per cent and also helped push up share prices for ANZ and NAB which are due to report their results in the coming week.
