ANZ owned ING has frozen one of its superannuation funds, affecting about one thousand investors. A letter from superannuation platform OneAnswer run by ING mailed on December 22 advises clients that "currently withdrawals from, and switches to, this fund are temporarily suspended". ING told superannuants that an underlying $1.4 billion AMP fund supporting their pension has frozen redemptions for up to a year. Distributions from the allocated pension are not affected. In October, AMP Capital said volatile markets had "indiscriminately shaken" investor confidence, prompting unusually high requests for withdrawals. AMP announced on October 10 it was placing limits on withdrawals.
