Westpac takes six weeks to approve loans 5 January 2009
Mortgage applications received by Westpac through brokers last week will not be processed until the week of February 13. Operational problems are mounting at WestpacÂs mortgage processing centre in Adelaide, with turnaround times on some loan applications now as long as six weeks. Three days is the bankÂs normal target for loan applications. For loans submitted last week the bank does not expect to process the applications until February 13, according to advice to brokers from the bankÂs business development managers. ÂHigh levels of mortgage applications and Âa number of periods of system instability are two reasons cited by Westpac in advice to brokers.
