Harassed GE borrowers still waiting for compo 14 July 2008
GE Money customers including Coles, Myer and Harvey Norman card holders or Honda Finance borrowers may be eligible for compensation for harassment from the lenders debt collectors. GE Money gave enforceable undertakings to ASIC two months ago that 2,000 customers would be given compensation, but to date no money has been disbursed. A spokesman said that GE had started compiling names of people to be reimbursed and compensated but could not say when the payments might begin. GE Money's lending business increased its profit by 48 per cent in 2007 to $161 million net.
