Household debts drags CBA profit down 12 August 2009
Commonwealth Bank has reported that its profit fell for the year to June 30 from $4.79 billion to $4.72 billion, largely because of increasing bad debt provisions. The result was still better than market expectations.Chief financial officer David Craig said bank executives were still a bit nervous. “While it's pleasing to see green shoots, we haven't seen the end of the bad news,” he told reporters. Craig said households and medium sized businesses were still having financial problems.
