ING Direct set to revolutionise banking

| ING DIRECT Australia yesterday announced a record net profit after tax of A$141.6 million for the six months to June 30 2009, up A$61 million on the corresponding period in 2008. CEO, Don Koch, said the result emphasised the strength of the business as it geared up to expand its product offerings to Australian customers.
"2009 is a very exciting time for the business with the upcoming launch of an everyday banking account to our 1.25 million loyal customers," Mr Koch says. "We revolutionised the savings account market with the Savings Maximiser and we are about to do it again with the Orange Everyday transactional account."
ING DIRECT, Australia's 5th largest retail bank, has a retail deposit base of $19.9 billion and a retail mortgage book of $35.2 billion.ING DIRECT says it has the highest customer satisfaction of all banks in Australia.
