Australian Foundation Investment Co (AFIC) reported a fall in profit from traditional investment activities for the year of 8.6 per cent fall to $205.1 million but a 60.5 per cent profit gain to $416.1 million after counting all the capital gains from selling its shareholdings in companies taken over. AFIC had $97.2 million of franking credits, allowing it to pay another $227 million of fully franked dividends. AFIC shares closed the day 1 cent better at $4.93 in a market that was down overall.
