Max Bourke didn’t find much debt 28 May 2010 |
| |
| ANZ Bank’s fake Facebook profile, under the name of Max Bourke, was used for more than one year by multiple ANZ collections staff with the approval of management, a source within the bank told The Age. The ‘Max Bourke’ profile was used by staff to try and collect information on debtors who had moved address and could not be located. However the project was not particularly successful and did not lead to the recovery of very much money. The fake profile was removed on Tuesday. ''While using publicly available information from internet sites as a research tool is a legitimate activity, it's important that the bank's dealings are transparent, consistent with our code of conduct and ethics policy and compliant with all appropriate regulations and laws,'' ANZ spokesman Stephen Ries said. |
