More CBA branches to open on weekends 5 January 2009
More Commonwealth Bank branches are expected to begin weekend trading in NSW this year. Currently 27 branches are now open on weekends after the NSW Department of Commerce approved CBAÂs application for Sunday trading in 2006. Another 27 branches are expected to begin weekend trading in 2009 says the Finance Sector Union who have brought an action in the NSW Administrative Tribunal alleging that bank staff are being forced to work on weekends against their will. The bank says working on weekends is voluntary and many staff are on waiting lists wanting weekend shifts.
