National Australia Bank will jointly develop and promote a range of new payments products and services with software developer Distra following a deal which will see NAB take out a minority shareholding in the IT company. Distra has already been contracted by NAB to update its core banking systems and improve settlement times for various types of payment transfers. Commonwealth Bank and ANZ have also announced big programs to upgrade their legacy IT systems.
