More than three million pensioners will receive a pay rise from Sunday. A single aged pensioner on the maximum rate will receive an extra $70.83 per fortnight, taking the total payment to $671.90. Couples will get an extra $29.93 per fortnight, taking their total payment to $1,013 per fortnight.Pensioners will also get their final utilities and telephone allowance payments in the coming fortnight. The allowances will be combined with GST and pharmacy allowances to create one payments covering all pensioner allowances. The changes apply to age and disability support pensioners, carers, wife and widow pensioners and veteran income support recipients.
