Most property owners would like stamp duty on property purchases to fall, and there's a new effort – led by former Westpac and Treasury chief - David Morgan, to lead to reform. However, total stamp duties for most states will fall this year. Stamp duties account for more than 40 per cent of state government tax revenues.
