Westpac's net interest margin in the half year to December - the difference between the costs it incurs and what it can make from its customers - was 2.24 per cent, or 24 basis points (about quarter of one per cent) higher than the bank's net interest margin one year ago.'Westpac cut twenty per cent from its dividend payment to take it down to 56 cents as half yearly cash earnings fell six per cent to $2.29 billion, despite 15 per cent growth in revenue as customers flocked to 'quality'.Provisions for bad debts rose to $1.6 billion in the first half.
