Westpac/BT investment fund frozen 30 December 2008
Westpac's BT Investments has suspended all redemptions from its Global Return Fund because unstable markets are not allowing the fund to realise asset prices that support redemptions. The Global Return Fund's entry price has fallen from $1.54 last year to $1.01 as 3 month, 6 month and 12 month returns are all about minus 25 per cent. The fund has been operating since 2001 with a minimum entry of $50,000. Management is outsourced to privately held Chicago firm Grosvenor Capital Management. In 2006 Standard & Poor's gave BT Global Return Fund a four-star rating while Morningstar "recommended".
