City Pacific has had to defer the already deferred payment plan for the unaffordable interim dividend of 15 cents a share (or $33 million in total). The development financier has also conceded that it won't be in a position to pretend to pay a final dividend in respect of the June 2008 half year. City Pacific said it expects to report a net profit, before any write-downs, of between $30 million and $35 million for the year to June 2008 (meaning it is looking at operating earnings of $3 million and $8 million for the second half). Most of the group's managed loans, of around $1 billion six months ago, are held within the City Pacific First Mortgage Fund. Investor redemptions within that fund remain frozen, while the firm prioritises repayment of bank debt to Commonwealth Bank.
